Job Title: Export Control Coordinator

General Job Description:
To act as primary liaison between the Aerospace Global Export Control Officer (Global ECO) and the Sylmar, CA facility on all Export Control related matters. Manage Sylmar’s export compliance program to ensure compliance with all applicable US export control regulations including but not limited to: export license determination, denied party screening, anti-boycott screening, diversion risk, end-use and embargo screening, classifications and re-export laws and regulations.

Maintain an adequate level of understanding of US export regulations and PPG Aerospace Export Management System in order to answer daily questions that may arise. Gain an understanding of the US Government Export License Process and the various agency roles and work with the Aerospace Global ECO to obtain export licenses and agreements as required.

Maintain an understanding of all Aerospace Export Management Procedures, Corporate Export Compliance Procedures, and SOPs that support the Aerospace Export Management System. Document, implement and administer all required policies, procedures and education for the PPG Aerospace site with the guidance of the Aerospace Global ECO. Conduct meetings with site personnel to ensure implementation of the Company’s export compliance procedures and contractual obligations.

Act as the subject matter expert for determination of export licensing requirements for the site’s products and technical data. Responsible for product classification requests by working with technical personnel and suppliers / distributors to obtain product information to support product classifications.

Perform periodic audits from both a procedural and transactional perspective. Investigate potential incidences of non-compliance and recommend appropriate action to Global ECO, including remedial activity.

Coordinate with the Global ECO to provide periodic training to new hires and transferees within PPG Aerospace sites. Identify any foreign nationals working within the site and monitor that individual’s access to controlled technology. Coordinate with the Global ECO with respect to communications with the Government regarding export activity. Ensure that the site has appropriate record keeping procedures in place consistent with PPG Aerospace Export Management System. Attend periodic meetings and refresher training organized by the Global ECO or Corporate Export Control Team.

Job Qualifications:
Required Skills & Personal Characteristics: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or 3+ years of import/export/global trade control experience. A degree in business, transportation logistics, chemistry, global/trade compliance is preferred or commensurate work experience. A degree in other areas of expertise will be considered when complemented with relevant work experience. Strong written and oral communication skills are imperative as well as demonstrated computer and presentation skills. Ability to learn quickly, excellent problem solving, decisiveness, critical thinking and people management skills in a fast paced, dynamic work environment are a must. Travel of up to 25% may be required. Must be a U.S. citizen given potential for handling ITAR related issues/projects.
