As an all-volunteer organization, SIA's success is driven entirely by members who contribute their time, knowledge, and experience. Every conference we host, every publication we produce, and every resource we provide reflects the dedication of volunteers who help strengthen our profession and ensure SIA continues to deliver exceptional value to its members.
Ways to Volunteer
Conference Committees
SIA hosts four conferences each year:
- Winter and Spring: Virtual conferences
- Summer and Fall: In-person conferences
Each conference is planned by a committee of four to five volunteers working alongside an SIA Board member. Committee members collaborate during the approximately three months leading up to the conference, with the greatest time commitment occurring during the event itself.
When opportunities become available, a Board member or the Conference Director will contact volunteers to discuss their interest, availability, and fit for the committee before appointments are made.
Publications
SIA also relies on volunteers to maintain its respected library of compliance publications, covering topics such as exemptions and exceptions, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, voluntary disclosures, and other key regulatory issues.
Publications are updated periodically to reflect significant regulatory or policy changes. When an update is planned, the Board assembles a volunteer team and reaches out to interested members to discuss participation and availability.
