Society for International Affairs
Educating the International Trade Community on Export and Import Process

ABOUT THE SIA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Society for International Affairs (SIA) exists for its members, and while many members take advantage of their membership to attend SIA’s conferences, your SIA membership provides other benefits as well, including eligibility for college and postgraduate scholarships.

As part of our educational mission, SIA has established a program that awards scholarships to students with a demonstrated interest in the field of international trade or related fields of study. Our hope is that the scholarship program will serve SIA’s members while also encouraging and equipping individuals to pursue a career in international trade. It is no secret in the age of Export Controls Reform (ECR) that the field is growing, and industry as well as the government have need for qualified professionals. The SIA Scholarship Program strives to assist in filling this need. In the past, scholarships have been granted to support studies in a wide variety of areas, including:

  • political science;
  • international relations;
  • economics; and
  • international business.

SIA provides these scholarships on a yearly basis with the goal of supporting students in their pursuit of studies in the international trade field and fostering the development of interest in careers in export and import licensing and compliance as well as permitting students to build relationships with current industry members. Numerous past scholarship members have completed their studies and accepted positions in the international trade industry and now are regular attendees, and even volunteers, at SIA Conferences.

We encourage all SIA members to consider whether they could benefit from a scholarship to further their educational goals or know of a child, grandchild, nephew, niece, neighbor or colleague who may be eligible and able to benefit from this program. Membership in SIA or sponsorship by a current SIA member is encouraged, but is not in itself a requirement for scholarship eligibility.

Scholarship awards are granted without regard to gender, race, religion, color, creed, age, disability, citizenship or national origin.
