ALPHABET SOUP: ANALYZING EVOLVING EXPORT CONTROLS WITH MULTIPLE REGULATORY REGIMES OCTOBER 25–26, 2021
This “Welcome Back” Hybrid Advanced Conference will focus on a number of advanced facets of international trade, to include: new rules, policy and process, information technology issues and solutions, and quarantine challenges in government and industry. Tailored for the experienced international trade professional, this event recognizes that business continuity depends on our ability to respond to ongoing change in and, at times, complete transformation of the landscape in which we work. Register for this event to hear from industry and government speakers shedding light on the increasingly complex and evolving regulatory landscape. Our wide array of panelists share practical solutions and underlying drivers for recent policy changes. Keep up to date on global supply chain concerns, streamlining holistic trade compliance programs with competing regulations, and emerging technologies. Delve into automation technology related to commodity jurisdiction determination, license exceptions/exemptions, and the latest expansion of CFIUS review. Hear updates from a keynote speaker and ensure your organization stays informed of the latest regulatory developments. Our hybrid format will bring together speakers, members, and attendees all either virtually or in person.

Wes Merrill
Export Control Officer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL) pursuing a career in Global Trade. Worked in international trade compliance for the past 5years, first at Raytheon and now at JPL, I have come to realize my passion for the industry and appreciation for the mentorship of others in this line of work. In particular, I am most inspired by the ever-changing nature of international trade, and the global perspective it requires me to have. The globalist perspective is increasingly necessary, and I am always looking for ways to further myself in this sector. | Isabella Bernado Erica Hackett
“Global trade controls. Cool . . . what is that?” This is the question I am asked, almost invariably, when I tell a person that I work for Boeing in Global Trade Controls(GTC). |
As part of our educational mission, SIA has established a program that awards scholarships to students with a demonstrated interest in the field of international trade or related fields of study. Our hope is that the scholarship program will serve SIA’s members while also encouraging and equipping individuals to pursue a career in international trade. It is no secret in the age of Export Controls Reform (ECR) that the field is growing, and industry as well as the government have need for qualified professionals. The SIA Scholarship Program strives to assist in filling this need.
